For Dom Pérignon Vintage 2017, this slow metamorphosis required nearly 9 years. 2017 is a vintage marked by tension, shaped by three contrasting phases. The year began mildly, but in early March, 12 days of frost reduced the potential yield. A hot, dry late spring and early summer then ensured early ripening and strong concentration in the grapes. However, rains in late August brought botrytis and sour rot, requiring careful crop management and meticulous sorting. As a result, the Chardonnays were the ripest since 2000, while the unaffected Pinot Noirs displayed a beautiful balance of maturity and freshness.
